Well where do I begin? My name is Kathleen Underhill and I am extremely excited to have been elected as the Student Union President and at the prospect of being a voice for Forth Valley College.
My background is Early Years Education and Childcare, where I completed both my NC and HNC. This has been an excellent time for me and I have gained not only a qualification, but new friends, new skills and a new confidence that I didnt know I had.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new students to Forth Valley College and hope your time with us will be enjoyable and fulfilling. For our returning students - Welcome Back!!
Over the summer I have been working alongside our Student Liaison Officer (SLO) Suzanne Crawford, to gain the proper training and experience that will enable me to support you throughout your academic term here, within the college.
This will help me to become an integral part of the Class Representative Training, which I hope our new and current students will get involved in! This is something I feel incredibly passionate about.
I have also been working hard to build links with National Union of Students (NUS), to ensure that I can provide you with the latest news, student information and future adventures.
The Student Union is your zone - where you can relax, meet up with friends or meet new people from other courses.
Each Union is different in each campus and we have lots of events happening throughout the year, and would love for you to get involved and tell us your ideas for events that you would like to see run throughout Forth Valley College.
We are here to give you a voice and make sure you are heard, so we encourage you to come along and give us your views. Your voice makes a difference and only by talking to us, can that difference be made.
Throughout my campaign, I stated that my main priority was to bring all Forth Valley College campuses together, so we can help each other through different aspects of student life. To help me do this, I need a reliable team behind me in each campus, which will liaise with myself and Suzanne Crawford (SLO) to ensure the students are heard.
A full list of positions are available online or within your student union. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain new skills, friends in a fun environment and will look fantastic on your CV.
As always the student union holds an open door policy and I encourage you to visit us, bring your ideas, problems, successes or just to come in for a wee chat.
Thanks to all who believed in me and voted during the elections. I look forward to seeing you soon,
Kathleen Underhill
