What am I entitled to as a part-time student?

 

A fee is payable for part-time advanced & non-advanced courses. These fees are shown in the part-time/evening prospectus with the courses, however some students may be exempt depending on their personal circumstances. Some students may be entitled to some help from the bursary fund e.g. travel and materials.

 

Students on a part-time advanced course may also be eligible for a loan, which would be paid by SAAS, and students should contact them to check their eligibility on the details provided below.

In which situations are part-time students eligible for fee waivers?

 

Part-time students in the following categories may be eligible for a fee waiver, which means they will not have to pay course or exam fees these include: 

  • In receipt of jobseekers allowance, and have been claiming for a period of 6 weeks prior to application.
  • A registered asylum seeker.
  • Receiving Incapacity benefit.
  • Receiving Severe Disablement allowance.

Or 

 

You or your family are in receipt of the following benefits: 

 

  • Disabled persons tax credit.
  • Housing Benefit.
  • Income support.
  • Working tax credit. 
  •  

You may be eligible if none of the above applies but you receive any of the following allowances: 

 

  • Attendance allowance.
  • Council tax benefit.
  • Disability living allowance.
  • Industrial injuries disablement benefit.
  • Lone parent benefit.
